This year's European Forum Alpbach will take place under the general theme Bold Europe from 19 August to 2 September 2023.
The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) is a platform that advances ideas for a strengthened and democratic Europe. It brings together young people, leading scholars, thinkers, scientists, policy makers, business people and civil society actors from Europe and around the world to engage and contribute to its mission to shape a stronger Europe.
Under the annual theme Bold Europe, the 2023 Forum will take place in Alpbach from August 19 to September 2 and is designed along the four major challenges for Europe's future:
- Rallying for Climate Action
- Fighting for Europe's Economic Sovereignty
- Securing Europe in a Multipolar World
- Reinforcing Democracy in Europe
New this year is the division of the event into four blocks:
- Alpbach Seminars, from August 20 to August 24
- wide range of compact formats such as lectures, plenary sessions, workshops
- opportunities for networking and exchange
- Lab Days, from August 24 to August 27
- discussion events
- development of ideas and solutions for the future of Europe
- open & creative formats for the exchange of ideas
- Europe in the World Days, from August 27 to August 30
- thematic priorities: Climate, Finance and Economy, Democracy und Security
- discussion events
- thematic priorities: Climate, Finance and Economy, Democracy und Security
- Austria in Europe Days, from August 30 to September 2
- Shaping Europe from an Austrian Perspective
- Austria's role in Europe and vice versa
- opportunities for networking and exchange
The Alpbach Seminars (previously Seminar Week) will be integrated into the program of the 
14-day event. The aim is to promote exchange and intergenerational dialogue between young people and decision-makers from politics, business and civil society.
